I am a graduate student in biophysics at Arizona State University. My current fields of interest lie in cell rheology and developmental biology. Specifically, I work on modeling processes of morphogenesis in multicellular systems of the developing embryo. With my advisor, Timothy Newman, and I have been developing a mechanically based computational framework to simulate large numbers of interacting cells in three dimensions. We have published our first paper on how to reasonably model the rheology of cells. Currently, I am working on applying this model to bring to light mechanisms of primitive streak formation in the early Chick embryo. This work is being done in collaboration with experimental biologist Kees Weijer.
